Case Study

Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recognised the need to upgrade its Risk Management system after utilising the same system for over a decade. With the advent of the new national Learning from Patient Safety Events (LFPSE) service, the organisation saw an opportunity to leverage technology to enhance patient safety, support learning, and improve the overall quality of care.

The decision to explore alternative systems stemmed from the desire to embrace new methodologies for using patient safety data. Following a thorough market research process, Hampshire Hospitals identified several LFPSE-compliant systems. Ultimately, they chose InPhase based on its comprehensive suite of modules, innovative design, and ability to facilitate data triangulation and learning.

InPhase offered all the modules present in Hampshire Hospitals' existing Risk Management system, along with additional features that promised enhanced functionality. The Oversight Suite comprises of over 30+ different apps for patient safety, risk management and compliance including Incidents, Risk, Feedback, Claims, Audits, Audit Life Cycle, CQC self-assessments, policy and more.

Each of these apps integrate together seamlessly, allowing for real-time triangulation of data for a full and comprehensive, context-rich oversight that will enable Hampshire Hospitals to quickly and easily identify areas for improvement regarding patient safety.

"The system looks innovative, which will allow us to use our patient safety data in different ways to support improvement, which again, is a huge push for us. The system is designed to make triangulation and learning as simple as possible, and this is something that is really appealing for us."

The system will enable the organisation to manage patient safety workflows more efficiently, reducing reliance on manual trackers and saving time. Each workflow is customisable, enabling Hampshire Hospitals to adapt workflows quickly and easily themselves as they discover new ways of working. Users are notified as something moves through the workflow thanks to smart email notifications that alert those with the right permissions.

Dynamic dashboards will enable the presentation of data in visually engaging ways, facilitating better insights and decision-making. With improved access to data and streamlined processes, the organisation aims to redirect resources towards patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.

"Something that we're looking forward to the most is using the system to manage our patient safety workflows in ways that we don't currently and becoming less reliant on our manual trackers. That will be a lot of time saved and we can use our time towards other things around patient safety and improvement."

The team has provided responsive support, addressed queries promptly, and delivered accessible training sessions. While acknowledging the enormity of the project, the organisation expresses confidence in the ongoing implementation process.

"We're in the very early stages of it and it is a massive project which can be quite daunting but the InPhase team have been really supportive so far, they've been really responsive, answered any questions we've had and the training has been really accessible. So, it's all looking good"
