Join-up planning and monitoring
Planning and performance are often dealt with as separate issues, in separate reports and systems. This creates the risk of a disjoint between planning and monitoring and hence managing performance delivery. The PerformancePlus® system brings the two activities together in one application and one database.
Planning and Prioritising
The way PerformancePlus® supports mapping the impacts of one objective upon others improves plan development and management and enables better prioritisation and targeting of scarce resources. Users and auditors have commented specifically on this benefit and it is a key benefit identified in customers Performance Project.
As well as mapping the impacts between objectives, PerformancePlus® enables managers to identify different levels of priority for objectives, allocate and track budgets, and to display these overlaid on the cause-and-effect map.
These features help managers answer questions such as:
“Which objectives are important, but can be reduced or delayed with least overall impact?”
“Where are we still resourcing initiatives or activities that are no longer of significant value?”
“Which are the most important objectives and actions?”
with the answer:
The ones that have the greatest impact on achieving our overall aims!
We are all good at starting new things – but not always so good at stopping them when they are not essential any more! PerformancePlus® helps stop unaligned activity, in a way that Managers can easily understand.
Decision making
Under scrutiny, decisions need to be seen to have been informed by research including performance information. PerformancePlus® Housing provides ready access for all authorised users to relevant performance information, both improving decision making and providing evidence that such information was available in the decision making process.
Benefits realisation
Once efficiency improvements have been identified and agreed, PerformancePlus® Housing enables managers to monitor whether the planned improvements are actually being made – and to recognise shortfalls early and in time to take corrective action. Action plan tasks can be entered and tracked, helping manage the execution of planned change.
